Jennifer Weir was born in San Francisco and grew up across the Bay absorbing the lush colors of California and the vibrant personalities that have come to represent Berkeley in the sixties and seventies. From her artist mother she learned to observe the subtle relationships of colors and the way light shapes the way we see the world of form. Her father travels overseas monthly in search of colored diamonds and rare estate jewelry. Seeing all the sparkling diamonds and colored gemstones he had gathered sparked her love of small, intricate glittering objects..
An immediate connection was made when, after graduating from UCLA Jennifer accepted a position with M. Lowe & Co. Jewelers. Collaborating with jewelers, she received hands-on training in basic metalworking techniques and stone identification and was soon making her own pieces.
Over the years Jennifer has sold her designs in local retail shops, while continually experimenting with various styles and motifs. Her new line emphasizes precious metals - silver and gold, vermeil and gold fill, and exhibits a high-end look in moderate price points. Many pieces pair gold and silver with gems selected to blend with any kind of wardrobe or occasion. Castings are made from original designs, each of which offers its own symbolic potency.
"Nature itself inspires my imagination; my work is to capture and transform light and color into personal adornments that energize and uplift the wearer."
When Hollywood wardrobe designer Debra McGuire noticed her work, she contacted Jennifer for a private viewing. That meeting led to several television sightings and a major motion picture placement. Jennifer's designs have been worn by Hayden Panettiere and Ali Larter on NBC's Heroes, Katherine Heigl in Knocked Up, and have been seen on Crossing Jordan and Without a Trace.
The line consists of earrings, necklaces and bracelets; each piece is handcrafted in Northern California. |
