For three decades I have been fascinated by the beauty of gemstones and precious metals. The mystical quality inherent in these precious gifts from the earth drew me in and has held me close.

My drawings as a child involved lots of brightly colored flowers. Later, I turned my attention to beads, assembling them in arrays of balanced asymmetry, adding a unique talisman or gold charm here and there. I began with glass beads but was quickly enticed by the beauty of faceted gemstones and thus began my lifelong passion for jewelry design.

During my apprenticeship with a local jeweler, I suddenly found myself holding a welding torch with a blazing foot long flame that I used to melt pure gold and other metals to make 22 karat gold. Watching the molten gold as I poured it into a cylindrical ingot was pure alchemical magic!

We know the power of gemstones has been used for millennia for healing and metaphysical purposes. I do believe there is power in these pebbles; I use them intuitively, choosing them for the color, shape, size, and palpable energy of each individual stone. Combining multiple stones in one piece is the most satisfying part of my work. It might sound esoteric, but there is communication between myself and the gems, almost as if they tell me exactly where they want to be placed.
